Confectionery giant Cadbury plc has said it is necessary to warn consumers that its Dairy Milk chocolate bars contain milk in compliance with the law relating to the presence of allergens in food.

The company has an image of a glass and a half of milk being poured into a chunk of chocolate on its wrappers.

It also puts milk at the top of its list of ingredients on the bars’ packaging, explaining that there is “the equivalent of three quarters of a pint of fresh liquid milk in every half pound of milk chocolate”.

In addition, the confectioner has also deemed it necessary to print the warning, “CONTAINS: MILK”. Similar warnings have also been used on the wrappers of Dairy Milk Whole Nut bars.
