Over the years, Stone Brewing Co. has become more than just a brewery – it’s a San Diego County institution and one of the flagships of the city’s craft beer revolution. Now, Stone Brewing is expanding its presence even farther with new developments throughout the county from Point Loma to its home in Escondido.
On Wednesday, Stone Brewing Co. announced plans to build a boutique hotel across the way from its headquarters in Escondido. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the boutique hotel is set to include as many as 50 rooms, plus event space and a barrel room where the brewery will age its best vintages in wooden casks, and should open to the public in summer of 2013. With daily tours and events in its beautiful beer garden, Stone Brewing Co’s Escondido site has already become a destination spot for beer aficionados from around the world; with that in mind, Stone Brewing co-founder and CEO Greg Koch told the newspaper that opening a hotel seemed like a natural fit.

Stone Brewing Co. also announced that it would be expanding its Escondido production facility by 55,000 square feet – a move that will allow the brewery to produce up to half a million barrels per year.
But it doesn’t stop there! Stone Brewing Co. is also taking its reach out of North County and throughout the rest of San Diego. Today, the brewery announced that it has leased 18,000 square feet of Liberty Station in Point Loma to build a new location for its Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens. Expected to open in early 2012, the new outpost will offer “40 craft and specialty beers on tap, an extensive wine list, and locally-grown cuisine” – in other words, all that makes Stone Brewing Co’s Escondido bistro so special, now in a more central location.
As if that weren’t enough, Stone also has one last location trick up its sleeve – the much anticipated store in San Diego's South Park is finally coming to fruition. Featuring merchandise, bottles and growlers, and a tasting room with 14 beers on tap, the 1,118 square foot store will finally open its doors in June.
