Northern Foods plc will sell Dalepak Frozen Foods to the Irish Food Processors Group, in a deal worth £6.4 million in cash. The frozen food company, which made a marginal loss of £23 million in the year leading up to April 2010, will see 143 of its employees transfer to the Irish Food Processors Group. The company is based in North Yorkshire and supplies a range of frozen food products including Dalepak, Ross and Grassington’s. All of its brands are free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives.

In a statement, Northern Foods revealed that a proportion of the proceeds from this transaction will be paid into the Northern Foods Pension Schemes.
Irish Food Processors is a meat-focused food manufacturer and one of the largest beef processing companies in Europe. The company owns Britain’s Anglo Beef Processors Holdings and Anglo Irish Beef Processors. Dalepak is not the company’s first foray into convenience foods, it already operates Wessex Foods, Scottish company Freshlink Foods and hot sandwich manufacturer Eatwell UK.

The company’s CEO, Larry Goodman, is one of the richest men in Ireland and the sole shareholder of the company, which was built out of the collapse of Goodman International.
